Every notebook or desktop or server is run by an Operating System - the low-level software which communicates with the hardware, including peripherals such as a mouse or a printer, and any apps that are currently installed on the system. Any program input through a command line or a Graphical User Interface (GUI) is processed by sending an Application Program Interface (API) request to the OS. On a server, each app runs within the parameters established by the OS as well - priority, physical memory, processing time, etc. This is valid for both standard site scripts and server-side software like a media server. When a virtual server is created on a physical one, there can be two independent Operating Systems, referred to as guest OS and host OS, so you'll be able to set up a different software environment on a single machine.
Multiple OS in VPS
We offer you three different Linux releases for the Operating System of our virtual private servers
- Debian, CentOS and Ubuntu. These are some of the most stable and reliable OSs on the market and we provide all three of them rather than only 1 as we realize that you may want to set up some software which has specific requirements with regards to the Operating System it'll run on. The latter is due to the fact that each of the three Operating Systems has a vast support community behind it and there are different software programs you could install on the hosting server. Your OS choice will also determine what hosting Control Panel can be set up on the VPS in case you would like to use one and for this reason we offer multiple Control Panels as well. In the event you decide that you need another OS, our tech support team can quickly wipe the present one and install the one that you'd like. In addition, we offer an optional service to have the OS on your VPS updated weekly.
Multiple OS in Dedicated Hosting
We offer three Operating Systems with our dedicated server
packages - CentOS, Ubuntu and Debian. They're all different Linux distributions and we offer them not only because they're completely free and they will not increase the low price of your new web server, but also because they are outstandingly secure and stable. Each one of them is supported by a vast community of developers, so you'll be given the option to choose from countless software packages that you could install on your server if the application that you would like to work with has specific requirements. The Operating System will also determine what hosting Control Panel you can use since the Control Panels that we offer run on specific OSs only and since we want to provide you with as much adaptability as possible, we offer several OSs and multiple Control Panels. If you choose a server with a given Operating System, we can change it upon request in the event that it turns out that you'll need another one. We will also keep the OS updated weekly as part of our additional Managed Services upgrade.
